Cayambe is the third highest volcano in Ecuador and is the highest
summit in the Andes at the north of the equator and its characteristic
is that it conserves its glacial permanently. The Cayambe is part of the
Northern Central mountain range (also called the Cordillera Real) that
surrounds the Quito Hoya. The name Cayambe comes from several
languages according to ancestral cultures such as Quitus and
Caranquis

  • Departure from Quito towards Cayambe city and then to Ruales Oleas refuge at 4700 m

Day 2

  • Ascent Cayambe volcano to the summit at 5790 m
  • Descent until the refuge at 4700 m
  • At the refuge we will take time to rest, eat and hydrate
  • Return to Quito or to your destination
